The Living Girl Reading in a Landscape is a photographic series created in response to Girl Reading in a Landscape by Finnish painter Ada Thilen. The project reimagines the painting as a living scene, transposing its composition, light, and mood into photography. Shot in natural golden light among birch trees and wild grass, the series explores how a painted moment can be inhabited and reinterpreted: the same stillness, the same absorption in reading, the same relationship between a solitary figure and an open landscape. Through varied angles and close-ups, the work moves between wide compositions that echo the original painting and intimate details such as a face in soft light and hands holding a book.
